Every year in fantasy football the debate of best player available versus RB RB theory occurs. We will throw in our view of the RB RB RB top 10 theory. The RB position is probably the most important position on your fantasy team. That said you need 2 solid Top 10 backs to give you a good shot at the championship. Using the average draft info so far from xpertleagues you can get a feel for how many backs will go in the first 3 rounds (see chart below). If you notice 21 RBs were taken 11 WRs and only 4 QBs. Now lets have a look at the top 10 fantasy backs over the last 5 years.

* 1998-1999 - 5 RBs made back into the top 10.
* 1999-2000 - 4 RBs made back into the top 10.
* 2000-2001 - 6 RBs made back into the top 10.
* 2001-2002 - 6 RBs made back into the top 10.

What does this mean? Basically 5 of 2002s top 10 backs should make it back to this years top 10. That means there are 5 top 10 spots that will be filled outside of the second round. That is why taking RB RB RB in the first 3 rounds only makes sense. Now a look at the top 10 fantasy receivers over the last 5 years.

* 1998-1999 - 3 WRs made back into the top 10.
* 1999-2000 - 4 WRs made back into the top 10.
* 2000-2001 - 5 WRs made back into the top 10.
* 2001-2002 - 5 WRs made back into the top 10.

This means that in rounds 4 and 5 with only 11 recievers being taken in the first 3 rounds you still have a shot at picking up a top 10 receiver or 2.

We hope this helps you with your draft this year.
